Gloria Maris Greenhills BDO Platinum 50% Off Takeaway Promo Honest Review

BDO regularly comes out with 50% promotions for Chinese restaurants like Gloria Maris, Choi Garden, and Xiu – to name a few. Honestly, I always look forward to those instances because we ALWAYS made use of those promotions. They’re simply too good to pass up! Well, obviously because of COVID, I haven’t actually eaten at any of these restaurants for the past few months. So when I saw that BDO had come up with a new 50% off promotion, I was ridiculously excited.

The good news was – the promotion also applied to takeaway orders. The bad news was – only certain restaurants allowed for online payment. This rather defeated the purpose of takeaway in my mind. I don’t live near ANY of these restaurants, so I’d prefer to pay online then just book a rider to pick up the food order once ready. Thankfully, Gloria Maris Greenhills was included in the list of restaurant that did accept online payments.

What was the ordering process like?

It was relatively painless. I recognize that this promo is now order (it was only until end February 2021), so I guess this is just for future reference in case a similar promotion comes out again.

First off, check the Gloria Maris Facebook Page to peruse their menu, so you already know what you want to order. Keep in mind that there’s a minimum PHP 5,000 purchase – which was ridiculously hard to reach! Seriously, PHP 5,000 is a lot…

Second, once you had a clear idea of what you wanted to order, dial the numbers indicated in their page:

  • Landline: 8570-0921 ; 7719-9227 ; 7719-9233
  • Mobile: 0998-5700-921 ; 0917-872-4410

Third, on the call, they’ll ask for the following details:

  • Food orders – they’ll confirm if you’ve reached the PHP 5,000 minimum order
  • Pick up date and time
  • Mode of payment. If you’re using a BDO card and wishing to pay online, they’ll ask for: BDO card type, BDO number, Name on card, and email address (Where they’ll send you the link for payment). Note that you need to pay one day in advance for your order if you’re paying online

What food did I order?

I ordered six dishes in total – which we ended up eating over three meals. Really, it’s A LOT of food.

Cold Cut Combination (Small)

Birthday Noodles

Hot Prawns Salad

Taosi Fish Fillet Beancurd

Chinese Style Beef Tenderloin

Lemon Chicken

Verdict? Not eating at Gloria Maris has obviously made me forgetful, because some of these dishes were not great.

So, note to self, if I’m ordering from Gloria Maris again – I will for sure order the following:

  • Hot Prawn Salad: They’re super generous with the prawns (they’re huge!!) and the sauce
  • Chinese Style Beef Tenderloin: Their beef is sooo amazingly tender. I suspect they MUST use a tenderizer, because I’ve never been able to achieve that same level of tenderness on my own. I love the sauce as well of course (it’s sweet)
  • Taosi Fish Fillet Beancurd: I know I can make this at home, but their beancurd is excellent. I seriously need to know who their supplier is. Once I figure out who their supplier is, this dish will get bumped down to “Ambivalent”

Orders I am ambivalent about – they weren’t great but they weren’t bad either:

  • Cold Cut Combination: It was alright, but hmm, it just isn’t the same – eating this at home from a styro that has all the different cold cuts crammed in, versus eating it in the restaurant where all the cold cuts are separated.
  • Birthday Noodles: Still good, but now that I’ve branched out and tried all these birthday noodles from home kitchens that have popped up during the pandemic, I’ve found several favorites that were much better than this one

Definitely NOT ordering again

  • Lemon Chicken: What is this travesty?! It was pretty bad. My family kept repeating that my own lemon chicken creation was waaay better than this. Such a shame seriously, but at least I received some validation for my cooking skills LOL. My bad, I remembered that my favorite lemon chicken was from Causeway NOT from Gloria Maris. Ugh, must remember!
