Mommy’s Spaghetti DIY Recipe (w/ step-by-step instructions)
August 15, 2021
I wasn’t sure what to cook this weekend so I asked my family for recommendations. My dad was quick to pipe up – requesting that I cook spaghetti. He immediately clarified that he meant mommy’s spaghetti. LOL, clearly he didn’t want to mess with a recipe that already works. Pffffft. Alright, fine. Mommy’s Spaghetti is is!
DELECTABLE DISH FOR THE DAY: MOMMY’S SPAGHETTI
DIFFICULTY: Easy
SERVING SIZE: Good for 5 people (+ leftover sauce, which we then eat with rice in the following days)
PREP TIME: 40 minutes
COOK TIME: 20 minutes
INGREDIENTS FOR MOMMY’S SPAGHETTI
- 750g pasta
- 1 onion, diced
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can Jolly Mushroom, sliced
- 1 can Jolly Corn, drained of the corn water
- 10 pcs hotdog, sliced
- 750g ground pork
- 900g spaghetti sauce
- 100g tomato sauce
- Pinch of sugar
- 1/2 bar Eden Cheese
STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS TO MAKE MOMMY’S SPAGHETTI
- Cook the pasta. Remember to let the water boil first, then pour in a bit of oil and 1 tbsp of salt (which adds flavor to the pasta), then the pasta itself. Stir occasionally to make sure it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan. Afterwards, save a bit of pasta water then run the cooked pasta under cold water to make sure they don’t clump together
- Dice the onion, mince the garlic, slice the mushroom and hotdog, and drain the corn water
- Afterwards, cook the onion and garlic first over medium heat
- Cook the ground pork next. Make sure to break apart the pork until cooked (no more pink bits to be seen)
- Put in the hotdog next, then the mushroom, then the corn. These all cook super quickly
- Pour in 900g of spaghetti sauce, 100g tomato sauce, around 1/3 cup of pasta water (feel free to add or subtract depending on how thick/watery you want the sauce to be). If you want it to be sweeter (ala Filipino style), add sugar and adjust to your taste as needed
- Grate Eden cheese over the sauce and mix
- Bon Appetit!
