Hungry Meats PH Laksa Set Honest Review

Craving laksa? That makes two of us! I had ordered Laksa previously from Julien and Joachim’s Kitchen. It was alright, but not what I’d call unforgettable. So this time around, I ordered from Hungry Meats PH.

What Hungry Meats PH’s Laksa Set consists of

Hungry Meats PH’s Laksa Set costs PHP 799 (so it comes out to roughly ~PHP 160 per person), and consists of:

  • Chingkee Singaporean Laksa Paste (supposedly, this is also the brand used by Eat Fresh)
  • 200mL Coco Mama Fresh Gata
  • 500g Sun Goddess Pancit Molo
  • 1.2kg Mix of Crabsticks and Shabu-Shabu Balls

How to cook Hungry Meats PH’s Laksa Set

Before I discuss how the Laksa Set was, let me first discuss how to go about assembling and cooking this Laksa Set.

  • First, prepare the soup base. This can be plain water, or can be chicken/beef/seafood stock – completely up to you. I prepared 1.5L of beef stock (essentially water, with 2 Beef Knorr cubes)
  • Afterwards, put in all the Chingkee Singaporean Laksa Paste; followed by the 200mL Coco Mama Fresh Gata. Mix properly, then bring everything to boil. Afterwards, adjust to taste – if you find it too spicy, you can opt to add more water

  • Next, put in the 1.2kg mix of crabsticks and shabu-shabu balls. I almost poured everything in! Good thing I noticed last minute that the crabsticks still had a thin layer of plastic wrapping around it. Phew, make sure to cut this up
  • Lastly, prep the noodles. First wash the noodles under running water and gently break the noodles part. Then, blanch it in hot water for a few seconds (I did 30 seconds), then rinse and drain in cold water. Finally, put the noodles into the prepared laksa soup and serve

  • Bon Appetit!

Honest Review of Hungry MeatsPH’s Laksa Set

So overall, what I really liked about this Laksa is the taste! It’s just the right amount of spicy and creamy. Yummy! I also thought the crabstick and shabu-shabu balls were VERY generous – you could barely see the soup with all the toppings. Having said that, my sister said all the shabu-shabu balls tastes the same (except the one that had melted cheese inside – yum), so you kind of end up a bit sick of them in the end, because they all taste the same LOL

Overall – good experience, but I might just buy the Laksa Paste and Fresh Gata next time, and supply my own shabu-shabu balls.
