Ocean Bay Garlic Steamed Baby Lobster in Sotanghon and Suahe Honest Review
December 27, 2020
I was initially planning to cook Molten Cheesy Volcano Rice this Sunday, but was sidetracked when I saw this INCREDIBLE lobster promo (valid until December 30, 2020)!
PHP 180 for 100g sounded like an incredible deal, especially because (1) the lobsters are guaranteed fresh since they were expecting a new delivery this morning, (2) they were going to cook it for us (a huge deal because I have no idea how to cook lobster LOL), and (3) they’re just along Banawe, so it’s super near me.
Well, let’s discuss, shall we?
Verdict: Ocean Bay’s Lobsters are incredibly fresh!
Normally, I post my food reviews around a week late as I spend post-dinner time curling up with a good book or just chilling. Immediately firing up my laptop to post a food review is NOT normal behavior for me. Having said that, you know I’m happy with this purchase if I’m jumping to share it with as many people as possible ASAP!

Honest review of Ocean Bay’s baby lobster
So, I purchased 6pcs of Ocean Bay’s lobster, which added up to ~1.2kg. I opted to have it cooked Garlic Steamed w/ Sotanghon style, as this felt like the healthier option, since I was planning to share this with my grandparents.
Overall, SUPER HAPPY with it. The lobster is so so fresh and meaty. One of my biggest pet peeves with crab is that I sometimes feel like I’m paying mostly for shell weight. With this lobster, it was pretty much all meat. After we were done eating, you couldn’t even see the lobster shape anymore – simot talaga! On top of that, the lobster is incredibly fresh. When you pull the meat, it immediately slides off the shell, which is always a good indicator of freshness
The cooking style is simple but also good. Love the garlic, I can eat that on its own. The sotanghon has no flavor on its own, but when I add the garlic and sweet soy sauce to it – it tastes divine!
So happy I saw this promo last night – great seafood feast to end the weekend!
UPDATE: Ocean Bay ended up having a Lobster + Suahe promo last weekend (PHP 688 for 1 baby lobster + 250g suahe). Guess who happily jumped at the chance to order again? Me, of course!
Ughh, no regrets. Their baby lobsters are as fresh as ever. Truly delectable. The meat’s so soft and really just peels off the shell (proof of how fresh they are).
Aside from that, the suahe were also a true crowd-pleaser. Each shrimp was huge, extremely fresh and just so delicious.
The verdict is in – Ocean Bay Banawe is now my new go-to seafood restaurant in the area. So so good!
