OohMommy.MNL’s Heirloom Kuchay Pao Honest Review

A snack that’s been making the rounds amongst the Fil-Chi Community is this Heirloom Kuchay Pao by OohMommy.MNL. It’s only available through pre-order, and they get booked SUPER fast. So last Wednesday, when I saw them post their availability for this weekend, I immediately messaged, ordered, and paid. Zero regrets.

I finally got my long-awaited kuchay pao today. I got the 10 pcs option (for PHP 520) and had my brother pick it up (yay to no shipping fee, and free sibling labor haha!).

What I really like about it is as follows:

• The Kuchay Pao are cooked fresh and you’re messaged immediately after the batch is done cooking so you can have it picked up ASAP
• The super flakey and crispy crust is just WOW. It actually reminds me of the empanada de kaliskis of Leampanada. I wonder if they use the same technique… They also mention the signature spiral design as well in their promos, which I guess does make it prettier. But really, the crust is amazing – flavorful, doesn’t fall apart at the slightest provocation. Five stars.

• The savory kuchay filling! It’s filled with the brim – with kuchay (of course), mushroom, carrots, turnips. These is based off my eye ball and taste test. There might be even more. But all these flavors come together perfectly.

Overall, I’m super happy I snagged a spot for this weekend. Definitely a snack to reorder for the future.
