Agara Ramen Baguio Honest Review

You know when it’s cold, you crave for something piping hot? That was how we felt when we were in Baguio recently, and so when I saw a top-rated ramen restaurant, we decided to check it out.

But mygosh, it’s SO small. The restaurant itself only seats 8.

Although they do have an extension at the back which can seat an additional 20. Turnover is also incredibly incredibly slow. Pro tip: come here during lunch hours, around 12pm, as there is a shorter waiting time then. The smaller the group, the better too.

I was slightly disappointed because they only had one ramen available that day – the Chuka Soba (₱320) which the waitress assured me was their bestselling ramen. It’s made of chicken/pork/vegetable broth and has one chashu pork and seaweed. So, I decided to add a Shoyu Tamago (₱60) as well.

For the sides, I got gyoza (₱150 for 5 pcs) and karaage (₱200 for 4 pcs).

Hmm, for the ramen itself, it was just alright. I found the broth a bit weird (mix blend of everything haha), the noodles a bit softer compared to my preference, the chashu pork sliced too thick (although this was very tender and had an excellent pork-fat ratio). This is my personal preference of course. My mom really liked the broth in comparison.

The gyoza was just normal.

The karaage chicken was VERY small. Half of what you eat it just breading, but dude, really tasty breading – it even had bits of ginger inside!

Overall, glad we got to try this out, although I think I’ll just eat at Ramen Nagi next time (around a 10mins walk to SM Baguio).
