Chocolate de Batirol Baguio Honest Review

We never miss Chocolate de Batirol whenever we go to Baguio. Their hot chocolate – made using high quality cacao beans and prepared when you order it is delicious and really warms you up on a cold Baguio day.

Today was no exception. We headed to Chocolate de Batirol early-ish (6:30PM).They don’t accept reservations so it’s imperative you go early else you’re in for a long wait. Honestly though, if your group is small (2-3), the wait time is pretty fast as they have a lot of tables for 2. But as our family had 5 members, we ended up waiting close to 35mins before we managed to get a seat.

Ambiance-wise, I really like the location of Chocolate de Batirol and the way they’ve set it up. It feels rustic and homey, plus the cool Baguio weather helps complement. My mom also likes their playlist lol (she thought there was a live band singing… I’m pretty sure it was just Spotify being piped through their Bose speakers).

Food-wise, we normally come here for snack time.

If you’re doing the same, I highly recommend the following:
– Order 1 Chocolate se Batirol per person. They have a variety of flavors, but my personal favorites would be the traditional blend, the Baguio blend (whiff of strawberry), and the Choco Mint. Prices range between ₱160-₱180 per cup.

– Order the Turron (3 for ₱110). Make sure each person gets at least one turron because it’s really good. Expertly fried, incredibly crispy, and not oily at all. I do wish they’d put more filling though

– Order the Suman (2 for ₱115). Ughh, I love the muscovado sugar on top!

– Optional: Bibingka (₱165). Not overly impressed with this one. I’ve had better much cheaper from the church near my house. This one lacks salted egg, and they place margarine on top.

If you’re here for lunch or dinner though, then you can check out the dishes we ordered for reference:
– House Salad w/ strawberry dressing (₱230). Hmm this was ayt. Very fresh veggies, you can taste the strawberry dressing but I found it a tad watery

– Nilagang Baka (₱420) – can comfortably serve 4-5 people. This is a nice warming soup. The beef is also tender too (or as tender as it can get), and the vegetables remain crisp and not soggy

– Crispy Pork Kare Kare (₱395) – I always like kare kare and the accompanying bagoong, this was no exception.

– Daing Boneless Bangus (₱330). This was ayt.

Overall, always good to visit Chocolate de Batirol, although they really should clear tables faster and serve food faster (we waited another 30mins for the food to arrive), so that they can have faster turnover!
