Eating my way through Coron – top picks!
September 4, 2018
As expected – we spent a huge majority of our time eating our way through Coron. In our defense, there was a typhoon while we were there! So… what better way to while away the time than to eat eat eat?? So, without further ado – let’s go down the list of our top picks on where to eat in Coron, shall we?
Table of Food
Lobster King
- What to order: Lobster (~400 grams per person), Squid, Liempo
- Cost: ~PHP 700 per person
I loved it! This place reminds me of Dampa in Metro Manila (check out my blog post for Dampa if you’re craving for some seafood goodness in Manila!) – where the food’s amazingly fresh and they cook amazingly well too!! Obviously, the food to try here is lobster, so make sure to check that out. We had ours cooked the buttery garlic way, which was absolutely delicious!
Sinugba sa Balay
- What to order: Sisig, Meal set (Squid, Pork)
- Cost: ~PHP 500 per person
Sinugba is pretty famous in Coron and will always be well-recommended, so won’t bother saying more. Let me just say though, I had never seen food devoured so quickly and in such huge quantities before this… Also, we ended up ordering a second round! Crazy…
Buzz Café
- What to order: Longsilog, Breakfast Burrito, Lamb Rogan Josh, Fresh squeezed orange juice
- Cost: ~PHP 200-500 per person
So in Coron, what I learned is that EVERYTHING moves a lot slower. Folks tend to be late, food takes a long time to cook – I guess this is what they mean by the “island pace.” Having said that, would highly recommend Buzz Café not just because the food is good, but the service time was pretty quick too!
Trattoria Altrove
- What to order: Pizzas (Hungarian Salsiccia, Panchetta con Tartufo), Pasta (Carbonara, Gamberi)
- Cost: ~PHP 700 per person
This place is SO GOOD. I was initially unsure if we should check out an Italian place in the middle of an island in the Philippines, because let’s face it, I’ve eaten enough Italian knock-offs to last me a lifetime. BUT Trattoria pleasantly surprised me. The pizzas and pastas are out of this world, and you can really taste (and see) that it’s freshly baked and prepared. Service was also pretty fast. Five stars all around!
And that’s a wrap! Let me know if you have other Coron food suggestions – would love to check them out next time <3

That is the suitable blog for anybody who needs to find out about this topic. You understand so much its almost laborious to argue with you (not that I truly would want…HaHa). You definitely put a new spin on a subject thats been written about for years. Nice stuff, simply great!
