Chubby Mommy Taiwanese Porkchop and Longga Patties Honest Review
April 1, 2021
I super LOVE Taiwanese porkchops. These fried delicacies are crunchy and have this distinct sweet-ish flavor that I just can’t seem to recreate on my own. Well, I’m a huge believer of efficiency. And if I can’t make it well on my own, then I might as well find a place who does make it well and buy from them.
That’s why I was happy as a clam to find Chubby Mommy. Their Taiwanese Porkchops are to die for! SO GOOD. The pork comes fully marinated – you do have to fry them yourself but it’s pretty much childproof. I’ve purchased Taiwanese Porkchops from them several times and have tried several ways of cooking them. I’ll share my review below.
Happily, they’re also selling other items, such as: Longganisa Patties (which I’ve tried and will also review below), Baked by Machew Sushi Bake (I think it’s owned by her family), 3-cup chicken, 13 days butter aged USDA Ribeye, and so on.

Have you got it? Here’s my review!
Taiwanese Porkchop
- Price: PHP 190 for 3 pcs
- Serving size: Good for 2-3 people (with rice!)
Cooking this is pretty straightforward.
- Make sure to defrost from the chiller one day before.
- Coat evenly with potato starch. If you don’t have potato starch, I’ve used corn starch too – but I find potato starch is better as you get more of a crunch
- Deep fry until golden brown (at ~190 deg C). I’ve tried using an air fryer, but deep frying still gives the best results
- Slice into desired pieces
Overall – I love love love this! The porkchops are very meaty. Barely any fat or bone, so it’s really good value for money. On top of that, the marinade is SO good. I actually end up collecting the excess marinade and using it for my own porkchop a week later. Retains the same taste, yum! Highly recommend
Longganisa Patties
- Price: PHP 220 for 4 pcs
- Serving size: ~2 pcs per person (can be more!)
Again, cooking this is very straightforward. I assembled them into longganisa burgers and provided step-by-step instructions here
It was pretty good – my dad complimented it (which is quite rare LOL). I come from a typical Asian family where if the food is not good, you hear a lot of complaints. Otherwise, it’s radio silence.
Having said that, I’m not a huge fan of the char/caramelization that it goes through. I also found that the patty breaks apart quite easily, which I found a bit frustrating as I was assembling the burger. Ah well, I’ll try a different patty next time, and maybe use this for another recipe instead (aka just eat it on its own)!
