For my parent’s 31st wedding anniversary, I knew I had to plan it but was pretty stumped on what exactly to order. Steak? Lamb rack? Been there, tried that! Now my dad likes to randomly share stuff that he sees on his Facebook feed, and he shared Sergeant Crabs Kitchen‘s facebook post and the food looked really good!

So what exactly did I order?

• 2.024kg Singaporean Style Chili Crab (Spice Level 3)
• Cereal Prawns (Spice Level 2)
• Fried Mantou

Verdict: Super sulit! Highly recommend!

Singaporean Style Chili Crab

• Price: PHP 2,000 per kg (for 2kg orders above)

Mygosh. This was SO good. Super fresh AND HUGE!!! At 2.024 kg, we got two crabs, and they were freaking huge. Honestly, it’s probably one of the largest crabs I’ve ever had. It’s just SO satisfying to eat, because the effort to get the meat from the crab shell is 100% rewarded.

One of my biggest pet peeves is eating small crabs because it’s so hassle to get the meat out and there’s so little of it. I always joke that after eating, I find myself even hungrier, because I expend more effort compared to what I actually consume.

Well, that’s definitely not a problem here. Just thinking about all those crab meat makes me so dreamy.

On top of that, the chili sauce was just SOOO GOOD. Legit brought back Singapore trip memories. Very authentic, very flavorful, just… very very good. I use the fried mantou to soak in the sauce then mmm so good. (Having said that, their mantou is so-so, so don’t expect too much here. But the mantou with the chili sauce? Pure magic!)

 

Cereal Prawns

First off – by the time we ate the Cereal Prawns, the cereal wasn’t crunchy anymore – which makes me sooo sad. I think the experience would have been even better if they were crunchy! Anyway, my family’s fault. As always, it took us forever before we sat down for dinner!!! Arghh, so frustrating.

Anyway, even though they weren’t crunchy anymore, it was still pretty good. The prawns are HUGE!!! For PHP 1,500, it was super good value for money. I’m such a happy camper. But honestly, for 5 people, the 2kg crab was more than enough. I probably shouldn’t have ordered the cereal prawns anymore because I went into food coma immediately after, and still felt full the day after!

 

Overall, SUPER happy with this purchase. At first, I was a bit worried that it was rather pricey, BUT worth every single peso. Will definitely reorder again next time, but will order in moderation hehe.
