Events to catch in Sydney – my top picks!
September 3, 2018
The really cool thing about Sydney is how events abound every weekend (and even on weekdays), which means no matter what happens, there’s always something interesting for you to check out! For me, the site I usually check is Concrete Playground which lists out all the available events coming up!
Some of my favorite events in Sydney are…
Vivid Sydney
This is the city’s annual festival of light, music and ideas. Alas, I missed it. Instead, I was treated to Badu Gili which explores ancient Aboriginal stories through sail light projections on the Sydney Opera House!
Sherlock Holmes Exhibit at the Powerhouse Museum
This exhibit showcased Sherlock Holmes’ tools of the trade. Plus, museum goers get the chance to play Sherlock for a day and solve the mystery! I personally found the exhibit itself extremely interesting, and likewise enjoyed the chance to explore the Powerhouse Museum and its eclectic collection
Bandaloop
Imagine a group of acrobats performing intricate choreography. Now, imagine them doing so on a vertical glass façade! Is your mind blown? Mine was!!! And while my head hurt afterwards (due to the need to crane your head to enjoy the vertical performance), I thought it was well worth the pain!
Sculpture at Barangaroo / Sculpture by the Sea
Barangaroo Reserve / Bondi Beach
I’ll admit, I’m not a huge art enthusiast… But I thought it was great fun to read through and try to understand the meaning behind each and every artwork!
I was only in Sydney for two short, but incredible, months – and wished I had so much more time to experience the amazing events this city had to offer. Let me know what events you’ve managed to catch that stunned you with its beauty – and maybe next time, I’ll get to catch those events too <3

Definitely believe that which you said. Your favorite reason seemed
to be on the web the simplest thing to be aware
of. I say to you, I definitely get annoyed while people
think about worries that they plainly don’t know
about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top as well as defined out the whole thing without having side effect ,
people could take a signal. Will probably be back to get
more. Thanks
