Bibigo Japchae, Bulgogi Pizza, and Pork Sirloin Tonkatsu Honest Review

BIBIGO is a Korean Cuisine brand by CJ CheilJedang, the biggest food company in Korea. The name’s very cute. Apparently, BIBIGO is a compound word formed from the idea of “bibim” which means mixing (think bibimbap – like mixed rice), while “go” represents how bibigo will globalize Korean food.

Anyway, I didn’t know any of these when I was deciding what to purchase… But the packaging was very pretty so I upped and bought the following:

  • Japchae
  • Gourmet Grilled Bulgogi Pizza
  • Pork Sirloin Tonkatsu

Verdict: I recommend the Japchae and maybe the Tonkatsu!

Japchae

Bibigo Japchae Packaging
  • Weight: 322g
  • Serving size: It’s supposed to be for 1-2 pax, but I really think it’s just for 1 pax
  • Price: PHP 240/ pack

Contents: The Japchae pack comes with glass noodles, Korean pork, six veggie garnish, and their secret sauce.

Contents of the Bibigo Japchae

How to cook: Put the content in hot pan with a little oil. Add the secret sauce and stir fry for ~5 minutes until the glass noodles are no longer frozen and it has soaked up all the sauce

This Bibigo Japchae is super good!

Verdict: I REALLY like it. The sauce is flavorful and really hits all the right notes. The pork and veggie garnishes were tasty, not icky at all despite the fact they were frozen beforehand. Last but definitely not the least, cooking it was very simple – which is always a plus in my books.

Gourmet Grilled Bulgogi Pizza

Bibigo Gourmet Grilled Bulgogi Pizza
  • Weight: 360g
  • Serving size: 2-3 pax, by my estimation, it’s roughly an 8” pizza
  • Price: P380 / pack

Contents: Crispy and golden dough topped with sweet bulgogi and savory mozzarella cheese

Pre-heated Bibigo Bulgogi Pizza

How to cook: Fold the four safety hangings under the microwave-safe plate, so that the pizza won’t stick to your plate. Cook until the cheese has melted – around 8-10 minutes in the microwave

Melted cheese and sweet bulgogi – too bad the pizza dough was tough and dry

Verdict: The toppings (sweet bulgogi and mozzarella cheese) were good, but the pizza dough/crust was TOUGH & DRY. I’m not sure if microwaving it was the right thing to do – despite that being the explicit instructions provided…

Pork Sirloin Tonkatsu

  • Weight: 450g for 3 pcs
  • Serving size: 3 pax
  • Price: P500 / pack

Contents: Breaded tonkatsu that’s ready to be fried!

How to cook: You’re supposed to fry this, but I opted to air fry it instead so that it would be “healthier.” Simply pop it in at 180 deg C for 15 minutes, and tada! You’re good to go.

Verdict: This was pretty good! I really liked how crunchy it was. It was a tad bit dry on the sides though. To be fair, I’m not sure if it was because of my air fry method. Oh well, I’ll try the cheesy tonkatsu next time – that ought to be good!
