A2 Manila Letter Cake Honest Review

My friend sent me this BEAUTIFUL letter cake from A2 Manila. It was so pretty, I almost didn’t want to eat it. Love the different shades of blue (it’s my favorite color), and the exquisitely shaped petalled flowers.
You can’t see it well in the photo, but this letter cake is essentially made up of two layers of “G” shaped biscuits, with a thick layer of cream in between the two biscuit layer. Then on top, we have another layer of whipping cream, topped with these exquisitely crafted flowers (at first I thought it was buttercream, but my sister the baker vetoed this idea and said the texture is quite different. I defer to her expertise).
Appearance-wise: Definitely an A++. So beautiful!
Taste-wise: I’d say it’s a B+. It isn’t for everyone (my mom wasn’t too fond of all the cream), but I really liked it! I had left the cake for last because it was so pretty and was slightly worried that the biscuit layer might have become soggy already (after 2 days in the fridge). This wasn’t an issue though – the biscuit held up, but wasn’t tough at all. It melts in your mouth and was tasty! Sometimes you get a bland biscuit layer which is rather disappointing but this one was flavorful all on its own
The whipping cream tasted like whipping cream of course. My mom thought there was too much cream, and she ended up scraping the cream and giving them to me (it’s my birthday – I get a free pass. Diet starts after ;)). And the beautiful flowers? Super yummy! I don’t know what sort of icing it’s made up of, but I told my sister she should learn how to make those. It tastes really good and it help up really well during the delivery and after 2 days in my fridge. Amazing!
Highly highly recommend – great for gifts and for personal consumption!
