Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich DIY Recipe (with step-by-step instructions)
July 10, 2021
My brother’s OJT mentor gifted him with this whole pack of condiments and sauces for KBBQ – one of which was this cheese dipping sauce.
I wasn’t overly keen on doing yet another KBBQ (in part because or griller’s still broken), so I wasn’t sure how exactly we could use up this cheese dipping sauce. Of course, Google comes to the rescue and I decide upon a True Blue American lunch – a Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich, with a side of beefy cheesy nachos.
DELECTABLE DISH FOR THE DAY: PHILLY CHEESE STEAK SANDWICH
DIFFICULTY: Easy
SERVING SIZE: Good for 5 people
COOKING TIME: 60 minutes
INGREDIENTS FOR PHILLY CHEESE STEAK SANDWICH
- 1 pound beef sirloin, cut into thin strips (told Monterey it was for stir frying)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 3 onions, sliced thinly into strips
- Cheese dipping sauce
- 8 hotdog buns (haha! this was all we had at home)
STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS TO MAKE PHILLY CHEESE STEAK SANDWICH
- Mix together 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pepper, 1/2 tsp paprika, 1 tsp garlic powder – this will be the beef seasoning
- In a large bowl, place the defrosted beef sirloin. Sprinkle the beef seasoning over the beef and mix well
- In a nonstick pan over medium-high heat, sauté the beef until cooked to desired doneness. Scoop out the beef and place on a plate
- In the same pan, sauté the onions until caramelized. Stir consistently lest the onions stick to the pan and burn. If you’d like, you can sprinkle some brown sugar over the onions as it caramelizes
- Preheat the oven to 180 deg C.
- Open up your hotdog buns and divide the meat equally amongst the buns. Spread your caramelized onions on top, then drizzle the cheese dipping sauce (or sliced cheese) over it)
- Place the hotdog buns into the oven for ~5 minutes or until the cheese has melted
- Bon Appetit!
