Som’s Noodle House Honest Review
November 11, 2021
My sister always craves for Thai food so I’m always on the lookout for Thai restaurants. Som’s Noodle House caught my eyes because I see it quite often on my feed (of normal people raving about it, not paid ads!!!). Unfortunately, it’s located in Makati which always gives me pause, because hello shipping fee!
But fine, for my sister’s birthday, I decided… why not? Anyway, we have tons of Grab coupons – so the shipping fee actually only cost me PHP 79 bwahahaha!
My order was as follows:
- Phopia tod (spring roll)
- Shrimp salad
- Tom yam seafood
- Pad thai seafood and Pad Thai pork
- Chicken pandan (x2)
- Beef green curry
- Vegetarian red curry
So first of all, can I just say, they totally lied to me! My initial order was half this size, but I asked Som’s if that was enough for 5 people, they told me to double the order. OMG. So much food lol. We ended up eating this over the course of 2.5 meals. Having said that, no hard feelings – they’re really good value for money. Decently priced, good sized servings.
Food-wise, I liked the following dishes:
- Shrimp salad: The sauce was SO good. The lettuce remained crisp-ish, and the tomatoes were super delicious! They didn’t skimp on the shrimp either. Honestly, if you’re a healthy salad fan, this might not be for you as I suspect a fair amount of sugar went into that sauce LOL

- Tom yam seafood: I liked it, my family didn’t. My parents and brother thought it was too sweet. Admittedly, it does seem a bit more sweet than the norm, but well, I still liked it.
- Vegetarian red curry: I cannot attest to the veggies quality because I didn’t eat a single veggie, but the CURRY SAUCE was so good. I essentially just poured the sauce over my rice

So-so, may order, may not re-order
- Pad Thai Seafood and Pork: The seafood was better than the pork, number one. I personally don’t like their meat dishes. I found the pork, the beef, the chicken – all of them were dry. The pad thai sauce was a bit runny for me, I like my Pad Thai dry. Overall, this was just ok, but I have tasted better (although I cannot cook better)

Will not reorder:
- Phopia tod: Distinctly underwhelming. Can’t remember what I ate hehe.

- Chicken Pandan: Sauce was great. Chicken itself was dry. I wonder if it was because we ate it the next day so had to reheat? But still. Pass for next time
Overall – glad I got to try this restaurant. Unsure if I’ll try again, there were some highlights but nothing too WOW. Let’s see.
