Bailon Piaya Honest Review
October 5, 2021
My friend has been hyping up this Bailon piaya like crazy. As someone who is actually fond of piaya (like very fond, hellooo sugar!!), I was unsure how much I should believe the hype LOL. Hehe well he brought pasaluboooong!
And wow! It really is good! It’s crisp and thin (practically wafer-like), unlike the ones you get on the supermarket shelves which are thicker and chewier. This is a GOOD thing in my opinion, because the thick and chewy version – while I like them – I do actually dislike the flakiness and find them a tad too sweet (so I have to pair them with milk)
Bailon’s piaya on the other hand is literally a flat unleavened bread that’s lined with muscovado sugar. When you first hold a pack of 10 in your hands, it feels like you’re holding nothing. It’s super light! Wolfing it down feels the same. I think I can finish a pack in one sitting. You take a bite, you savor it by letting the the piece of piaya linger on your tongue, the muscovado sugar melts into your mouth, you delight in the flavor – repeat until the piaya is gone. Then dip your hand into the pack again to grab yet another piaya!!! To be fair, since it’s practically air, I shall assume that it has minimal calories hehe.
Okay, that’s it. This was very good. FYI – It really reminds me of Balay Dako’s piaya too (likely because they’re cooked the same, and the ingredients are the same!).
I highly recommend. Yum yum!!
