What to See and Do When in Siargao (4-Day Itinerary): Day 4 (Breakfast at Lunares, Tayangban Cave Pool, Magpupunko Rock Formation, Lunch at Trogon’s Perch, Alegria Beach (to swim) or Burgos (for café hopping), Taktak Falls, Dinner at Haole)

Siargao 4-Day Itinerary

Below I’ll be sharing our vetted itinerary, as well as where we stayed, what we did, how much we spent etc!

In this article, we’ll be discussing Day 4!

For Day 4 – Tayangban Cave Pool and Magpupunko Rock Formation can only be accessed during low tide, so critical that you check when it’s low tide. For our trip, we opted to leave Kermit at 7:30AM, popped by Lunares to buy their Italian croissants (OMG these are HEAVENLY!!! I got one with Nutella and they are SO SO good – even better than French croissants). And then we were off!

Tayangban Cave Pool

Our first stop was Tayangban Cave Pool, admission fee of PHP 100 per head, plus you have to get a tour guide to enter the cave. Just tip the tour guide after (we tipped him PHP 200 – well worth it!) The underground cave is spelunking of sorts, but not too difficult, and you can do it even if you’re unfit – you just need to be able to have some balance and grab onto the rope. Also, it can get very dark so just beware. Inside the cave, the water is COLD, and there are bats above, and lots of stalactites and stalagmites (that you shouldn’t touch).

Total time inside the cave would be around 30 minutes? Pretty fast actually – I think you can do this faster, but my group was rather slow. We were rather unfit haha. Also, there were 9 of us and only 1 tour guide. Hmm, the important thing here is to wear good slippers. Lots of my friends’ slippers’ straps broke here, because you have to keep raising your foot above water and bringing it down again. Thank you Lord, my flimsy slippers broke the day before and I had replaced it (for just PHP 150!! What a steal.)

Anyway, once you finish going through the cave, you then enter into this small pool – super serene. There’s a diving area here too in case you want to dive into the pool. For folks who don’t want to go through the cave, you can opt to just to straight to the small pool. We chilled here a bit, swam around, chit chatted, then we were off!

Magpupunko Rock Formation

Next stop: Magpupunko Rock Formation. Wow, so nice!! It’s hidden pockets of pools beneath majestic rock formations. Then literally a few meters beside you, you see the waves crashing. It feels like you’re at the end of the world and I have literally never experienced this before, anywhere else! Super surreal. I highly recommend.

At this point, we were starting to feel hungry, so we ordered some fish balls, squid balls, and kwek kwek. They were ayt. I like the ones in UP better hehe but they were more than enough to quench our hunger.

Lunch at Trogon’s Perch

From here, we sped off to Trogon’s Perch for lunch. But really, we came here for more than just lunch. Trogon’s Perch is sooo beautiful. They have an infinity pool that looks off into the see (you need to consume PHP 500 per head to use the pool), and this porch that just has an amazing view of the crashing waves against the beach. So nice.

I could stay here the whole afternoon. Food-wise, it’s weird. Hahaha. Their menu is Chinese, and it wasn’t bad per se, but it’s also definitely not beach food. Anyway I liked the fish fillet with black beans, and my friend liked the soy chicken.

Swim at Alegria / Cafe Hopping at Burgos / Taktak Falls

After lunch, you can opt to go Alegria Beach (nice sands – not Boracay levels, but pretty good for swimming), Burgos (for café hopping), or Taktak Falls. Or if you have time and the energy, you can do all three! Alas, we are old and lazy, so we just went Alegria Beach. We bought some beers, and just chilled by the beach. How nice.

Dinner at Haole

Afterwards, we went back to Kermit to wash up then it was dinner time at Haole. OMG – their chicken is delicious (think Bonchon, but better), their scallops delicious (although rather small these scallops), and their sisig 100% on-point. It’s a tad far from the town center, but just cross the Sunset Bridge and don’t trust Waze or Google Maps (because they make you take a very inefficient route)

And that’s a wrap!
